How to compare mobility sellers
Scooters and power chairs come from a handful of manufacturers sold by many retailers. What differs is price, delivery, returns, and service. Five checks.
1. The all-in price
Scooter, batteries, charger, delivery, and assembly. Ask what's in the box and what's extra.
2. Returns, in writing
Days allowed, restocking fee, who pays return shipping on a heavy item. This is where a cheap seller becomes expensive.
3. Warranty and service
Frame, electronics, and battery are often covered for different periods. Ask who services it near you and how parts are ordered.
4. Delivery
Curbside means a box at the door; in-home means assembled and working. Older buyers usually want the second, and it costs more.
5. Track record
Years in business, reviews on more than one site, brands you recognize (Pride, Golden, Drive, Merits), and a phone number a person answers.
Questions to ask before you order
What's the weight of the heaviest piece? What's the real range for my weight? Is delivery to the curb or into the home? What's the return policy and who pays shipping? What does a replacement battery cost? Who services it locally?
